With our data archiving solutions, customers have the ability to create an "infinite file system" for their storage needs. Our archiving solutions store and access data recorded on optical disk and on tape libraries.

HSM - Hierarchical Storage Management
To utilize the "infinite" storage capability of an archive solution, a Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) component can be implemented. HSM is the process of moving infrequently accessed data from high performance, high cost disk storage to lower cost media such as optical disk or tape.

HSM is a "rules" or "policy" based method of data management. The "rules" or "policies" are established by the system administrators to ensure that managed network storage systems will have continuous storage capabilities by automatically "migrating" files that have reached certain parameters as defined in the "rules" or "policies".

By using HSM solutions, users can significantly reduce the cost of administrating networked data storage, shorten their backup time by only backing up current data, and eliminate any downtime involved with continually adding expensive disk drives.

Fixed Content Server

Wietec's Fixed Content Server, is a high performance/high availability NAS system, which combines hard disk RAID with optical jukeboxes, to provide the perfect storage solution for data that has to be always available, but is not modified (Fixed Content).
Long term archive is built on secured optical media, allowing for scalable volume sets, automated data migration and offline media and file management.

Applications include :

Document management systems
Legal and medical records
